Handmade ceramic pitcher with brushwork surface design. Artist: Eric Lewis

Brush making for surface design - Thursday Evenings WITH Eric

Students will create their own brushes using natural materials such as deer tail, coyote tail, fox, or squirrel hair attached to bamboo handles.

From there, you’ll explore how marks, pattern, slip, and form can work together in a more intentional way and how decoration can respond to the form itself.

Handles, lids, spouts, altered rims, and handbuilt elements can all create opportunities for movement and surface variation. Expect demonstrations, discussion, experimentation, and plenty of studio work time throughout the four weeks.

All levels welcome.
